There’s really not much that can shock us UConn Huskies women’s basketball fans. So it should come as no surprise that UConn women’s basketball team was the unanimous choice at No. 1 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Preseason Poll that was released on Tuesday morning.
The Huskies were also the unanimous No. 1 choice in the AP Poll as well.
Joining the Huskies from the Big East in the Top 25 are Notre Dame (7), Louisville (19), Pittsburgh (22) and DePaul (25). Rutgers, Syracuse, South Florida, Georgetown and West Virginia were among the other teams receiving votes.
After exhibition games against St. Rose College (11/5) and Vanguard (11/9), the Huskies will kickoff the 2009-10 season against Northeastern at Gampel Pavilion on November 14th.
Editor’s note: During the season, the two polls will run side-by-side each other in the same post.
