UFC 141 Buyrate: The Cash Cow Comes Home

Auburn

Questions surrounding whether Brock Lesnar could still be a draw for the UFC after such a lengthy absence have been answered.  And the answer is a resounding ‘yes’.  With pay-per-view buyrate numbers plummeting this year, it was highly unlikely Lesnar was going to pull in 1 million sales like he normally does when he appears atop a PPV card.  But he still came real close.  The early estimates is that UFC 141 sold in the neighbourhood of 750,000-810,000 pay-per-views.  This would put it right on par with 2011’s top-selling PPV, UFC 129 which was headlined by Georges St-Pierre vs Jake Shields and sold 800,000 PPVs.

Which solidifies two widely known facts:  fans love watching big men brawl, and Brock Lesnar is the biggest cash cow the UFC has ever seen.  But what will the company do now that their cash cow has gone out to pasture?
