When Dana White stated after UFC 162 that the sales for the event were trending in the 800,000 range, I was a bit skeptical.  After all, the UFC boss tends to lie exaggerate from time to time.  Ok, not time to time – always.  Anyhow, Dana was a tad bit off with his prediction for the pay-per-view sales from the event, headlined by Chris Weidman knocking out Anderson Silva (I still can't believe I'm typing that sentence).

Industry insider Dave Meltzer is reporting that UFC 162 sold around 550,000 pay-per-views, which isn't that great all things considered.  It isn't horrible, but it isn't anything to hold a parade for (which is too bad because my kids love parades).

So, in summary – Anderson Silva still isn't that big of a draw, Silva-Weidman II will sell tons more than this, Dana White is a big, fat liar or 550,000 > 800,000.  And my kids love parades.
