It’s getting harder to please MMA fans nowadays. You’d think a pay-per-view headlined with two title fights, one of them the rubber match between two guys who absolutely hate each other, would do some decent sales. Think again. UFC 198, headlined by Luke Rockhold vs Michael Bisping and Dominick Cruz vs Urijah Faber, sold approximately 320,000 PPVs, according to Dave Meltzer.
320,000 buys is the UFC’s worst showing in 2016 other than January’s UFC 195 (Lawler-Condit) which sold in the 300,000 neighborhood (with figures for UFC 198 still not released). Perhaps everyone was saving their money for UFC 200.
