Welcome to another installment of UndercarDVR, where we review what you need to see from this week in combat sports. We go fight by fight to see whether it needs to be watched, deleted, or put in fast forward.

Premier Boxing Champions returned to ESPN with a prospect vs. contender battle as Jamal Herring faced off against Denis Shafikov in attempt to add some real credentials to his undefeated record.

Get your remotes ready!

Denis Shafikov defeated Jamal Herring by tenth-round TKO in a lightweight bout.

  • Shafikov proved to have a little too much for the prospect here as he beat him from pillar to post. A second-round knockdown by Shafikov shaped the fight and Herring spent the rest of the bout getting picked apart. While he is still technically early in his career, Herring just got dismantled in a showcase and that likely shows his ceiling. Shafikov continues to hang around in the line of contenders and, though he never may end up champion, he proves to be a tough out and a big challenge for those looking to crack that upper echelon at lightweight.
  • This was really just a thrashing after the second round, but it is still worth a look if you want to see a great performance or see what Herring needs to improve or has reached his ceiling. Just keep your finger on the pause button for some of the more exciting moments of the fight. Verdict: Fast Forward.

Patryk Szymanski defeated Willy Campfort by unanimous decision in a middleweight bout.

  • Another prospect fight here, but Campfort was more of an active dance partner than a real challenge. Still, Szymanski had some lapses in fight IQ that allowed Campfort to take a few rounds and put the pressure on him a bit. Szymanski proved to be the better boxer as the fight wore on though and picked him apart. Szymanski looked alright, but it remains to be seen where his ceiling is.
  • Not a bad fight by any means, but nothing much to see here as we wait for Szymanski to start wowing or beating bigger names.Verdict: Delete.
