Unfortunate Headline Ruins Otherwise Dominant Performance

As it should be, the talk following the Chicago Cubs dramatic Game Five victory Sunday night was Aroldis Chapman’s masterful eight-out save.

A big part of the closer’s dominant performance…a record 19 pitches that clocked in at over 100 miles per hour.

The online Chicago Daily News decided a gun reference should accompany a picture of Chapman who, last October, was involved in and suspended for a domestic violence incident that, you guessed it, involved him squeezing off eight(!) shots.

Obviously, this all could have been an innocent mistake, but let’s not forget…people lose their jobs when they try and be too clever.

After pitching a scoreless inning back in August, Chapman was played off the mound by The Prodigy’s “Smack by Bitch Up” and outside of that being a horrible song for any occasion, it should also not be the theme music for a dude who can get a little punchy.
