This will be Bolt’s first return to the Stockholm track since 2008, when he lost to fellow Jamaican Powell by a margin of .01 seconds, less than a month before the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. The 2008 race in Stockholm marks the last time that Bolt ever lost a race. With U.S. sprinter Gay in the mix, this will mark the first time these three sprinters have raced each other since the 2009 World Championships in Berlin. Bolt beat Gay and Powell, who took second and third respectively in Berlin, and shocked the globe with a world record time of 9.58 seconds, which was .11 seconds better than his previous record.
The IAAF Diamond League is a global track & field competition circuit, and a replacement to the IAAF Golden League.
