The Brooklyn Nets can take many positives from their Game 1 loss against the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks were on the brink of kicking the Nets out of the gym on multiple occasions, but the Nets hung around and continued to cut into deficits until time ran out.
They were far from overmatched, which should boost the Nets’ confidence heading into the second game in Atlanta. According to TiqIQ.com, the average price for Brooklyn Nets tickets to Game 2 is $131.34 with a get-in price of $28 at Philips Arena. Games 3 and 4 in Brooklyn will cost fans more, as the average ticket prices are $199.02 (get-in price of $42) and $165.60 (get-in price of $29) respectively.
With cheaper tickets in Atlanta than in Brooklyn, Nets fans can watch their team try and win on the road by booking their flights to Atlanta to cheer on the upset. Hotels near Philips Arena from $84 can be booked through Hipmunk as well to create easy travel to the stadium.
The Nets were down as many as 16 points before cutting the lead to four, until a Jeff Teague floater banked off the glass with 1:19 to go in the game. Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez each had 17 points, while Deron Williams chipped in with 13. The Nets were 5-for-20 from three-point land, a number they’ll have to improve on to compete with the Hawks. On the contrary, Atlanta sharpshooter Kyle Korver made five three-point shots by himself to equal the Nets team as a whole.
Brooklyn may have caught a break when Al Horford was diagnosed with a dislocated right pinkie finger early in the fourth quarter. X-rays were negative and he finished the game with his hand taped, but if the Hawks’ heart and soul isn’t playing as fluently as he normally does, that could be a big swing in favor of the Nets. Paul Millsap also struggled for the Hawks, who dealt with a right shoulder sprain at the end of the season, as h finished with six points on 2-of-11 shooting.
Alan Anderson can help the Nets’ shooting woes from beyond the arc, after missing the final seven games of the regular season. There’s no easing back into playing because of the playoffs, so Anderson only contributed with five points in 16 minutes in Game 1. Expect him to have more of an impact once the ankle responds.
The series could’ve gotten out of hand with an early Atlanta blowout, but the Nets are apparently here to stay and compete for the entire series.
