Bobby Lashley is making it look easy – juggling a career as a professional TNA wrestler and a Bellator MMA fighter. The 40 year old champion is a busy man as he promotes his October 21 bout against Josh Appelt.

When asked about the hardest part of having a simultaneous career in pro wrestling and MMA in a recent interview, he says that it is balancing between what two promoters want and are willing to work with.  He further says that he wants both TNA and MMA to stay alive because it has done great things for his career.

However, it looks like the pressures of these two careers are finally catching up with Lashley.  The Total NonStop Action (TNA) wrestling champion defended his title against Eddie Edwards on the night of October 6th, and was defeated, ending his third reign as World Heavyweight Champion.  It was a big upset, as everyone expected Lashley to win after he was given a choice of three opponents.  The ironic thing is he chose Edwards instead of EC3 and Moose, because according to him, he will be the “easiest to defeat.” Wrestling commentators described Lashley as very cocky during the match.

Although Lashley always talks about his love for professional wrestling, he has also spoken about the lack of realism in wrestling.  He wants to veer away from that and make the fights as realistic as possible.  He has strong opinions on the topic, coming from a career in WWE, and now in TNA. Amidst talks of WWE’s purchase of TNA and clamor for a potential WrestleMania fight with WWE Raw Superstar Brock Lesnar, Lashley issues the following statements: first of all, he looks forward to the day when that match with Lesnar will actually happen.  He also says that the fight will be a crowd pleaser, and there will surely be a lot of money involved.

This defeat gives Kansas native Lashley all the more reason to stay focused and determined for his first MMA fight in 2016.  He will be facing Josh “The Juggernaut” Appelt in the wake of the California native’s back-to-back victories. If victorious, Lashley will win in his eighth straight MMA fight.  He has a lot to prove during this match.  This Bellator 162 MMA Bout will be held on October 21, 2016 at the FedEx Forum, Memphis, Tennessee.

If you are an MMA fan and you are planning to bet on this on this landmark match, it is now possible through Leo Vegas sport.  There are an increasing number of sports fans who prefer to put their money on other sports aside from the more common football or tennis matches. If you bet on this match, you might even qualify for a Leo Vegas bonus.

When asked how confident he is with the Bellator fight, Lashley says that he has been training hard and working with good striking coaches. Coming from a WWE background, Lashley’s style has certainly evolved from a take-them-down and pound them strategy to a lot of sparring and stand-up fighting. He brings his boxing coach wherever he goes to be able to train.

Lashley is a 40 year old single father, and he would love to fight for Bellator MMA for three to four more years.  He says that his body is still great, but he has young kids to take care of.  According to him, they are incredibly understanding and supportive, but he wants to focus on them a little bit more. As for TNA and Wrestling in general, he feels that with its forgiving schedule, he can do it for 10 more years.
