The U.S. Men’s National soccer team came back from a 4th minute goal from England’s Steven Gerrard to force a 1-1 tie, giving both teams a point in Group C. While Gerrard’s goal was a result of a nice build-up by the English offense (along with a U.S. defensive breakdown), Clint Dempsey’s goal in the 40th minute was a major gaffe by English goalkeeper Rob Green.
One very self-aware American fan was excited about the goal, but you can be willing to bet Green won’t ever hear the end of this unless England comes home as World Cup champions. Since England is off the U.S.’s radar for now, I’m willing to help him out. Greenie, just think Charmin soft. Works every time.
Highlights from the entire match are here. The other two teams in the group, Slovenia and Algeria, play tomorrow morning.
