According to a release from the U.S. Men’s National Basketball Team (#USABMNT) Tuesday, Golden State Warriors guards Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson made it through to the first stage of cuts.

Team USA announced that three players did not made the final roster in preparation of the FIBA World Cup.

John Wall and Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards, as well as Paul Millsap from the Atlanta Hawks were the first to be cut since #USABMNT originally narrowed down its roster to twenty for training camp last week. Center Mason Plumlee of the Brooklyn Nets was promoted to the original 19-man roster from the Men’s Select Team pool earlier last week.

Also no longer with the team is Indiana Pacers forward Paul George, who broke his leg Friday night during the Blue vs White Showcase scrimmage.

Curry and Thompson are a step closer now to being part of the 12-man roster that will compete for gold later this month in FIBA’s #Spain2014 World Cup of Basketball.

That leaves four more players who will not make the trip, with the final announcements likely coming very soon.
