USC Gamecocks Recruiting: 3 Commitments in 2 Days

The USC Gamecocks hosted the ‘Gamecocks Showcase Camp’ recently and during that time it picked up three new commitments from some solid kids that want to wear the garnet and black.

Here is a quick glance at the newest future Gamecocks  –

Defensive end Lorenzo Mauldin (6-4 223) out of the Atlanta area gave his verbal pledge to sign with the Gamecocks.  He is a great add up front for Ellis Johnson and his defense.   Mauldin also had offers from Kentucky, Troy, Samford, Marshall, Middle Tennessee and South Alabama.  Last season he had 70 tackles with 5 sacks.  He has great quickness and lots of potential.

OL Kaleb Broome (6-6 310) of Georgia Military JC committed to USC while on campus yesterday.  Broome also had an offer from East Carolina and drew interest from Clemson, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky and Washington State.  From the Aiken area and had USC in his heart as it is glad to get kids in the football program that has such a high desire to be a fighting gamecock.  Broome says he’s on track to graduate in January. He’ll then go through spring practice at South Carolina and have the chance to play, possibly even start, on a Carolina o-line that will be lacking depth at tackle in 2011.

More help on the offensive line is coming with today’s news that OL Mike Matulis (6-6 275) of Lake Worth, FL has also given his verbal to sign with the Gamecocks and be part of the 2011 class.  Matulis also had offers from Kentucky, Central Florida, South Florida, Florida State, Louisville, Maryland, West Virginia, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and others.  He had 20 offers in all.  He’s the 11th commitment for USC’s 2011 class.

Gotta say it was a good weekend for USC recruiting with picking up a great talent at DE and some big boys on the OL front.  Keep building a solid class as the program is heading in a great direction with the best days ahead.
