USC heading south in the baseball polls

Vanderbilt remained No. 1 in Baseball America, followed by Florida State, Virginia, Rice and Texas.

USC (33-13) was 2-3, with one of the losses coming after the Gamecocks were unable to hold an eight-run lead at Alabama on Sunday (which we will avoid a much needed LOHD rant on that subject). The Gamecocks fell five spots to No. 14 in the Baseball America rankings. And in the other poll, USC fell from No. 10 to No. 17 in the Collegiate Baseball poll.

Clemson took a “big jump” from 19th to 18th in this week’s Baseball America rankings. However, the Tigers fell from 19th to 24th in the Collegiate Baseball poll.

Coastal Carolina held on to its No. 21 ranking in Baseball America, while College of Charleston stayed No. 30 in Collegiate Baseball.
