Velveteen Dream Refusing To Make WWE Appearances Ahead Of ‘NXT Takeover’

This Saturday night, the NXT brand will be holding another major Takeover event, with the stars of Wednesday nights in-action just 24 hours before the Royal Rumble PPV in Phoenix.

One name noticeably absent from the NXT Takeover Phoenix card is Velveteen Dream, who as of this writing does not have a match scheduled at the event.

Dream took to Twitter today to voice his disappointment with being left off Takeover, Tweeting, “I Know My Worth. The past year I’ve created a special atmosphere at NXTTAKEOVER. Until WE* can come 2 an agreement as 2 what MY WORTH actually is, there won’t be any appearances or performances from “The Velveteen DREAM” or my likeness.”

It’s important to remember the above Tweet is most likely part of the current storyline for Velveteen Dream in NXT, as we have received no indication that Dream is legitimately frustrated with his spot on the roster. It’s also worth noting that Dream’s social media personality is very much of a “worked shoot” nature, as he has been known to Tweet shoot-style comments in the past.

Leading speculation at this point is that Dream’s Tweet might be teasing some sort of surprise appearance at NXT Takeover Phoenix, or WWE could be planning to have Dream appear as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match on Sunday night.

NXT Women’s Championship Match
Shayna Baszler (c) vs. Bianca Belair

NXT Tag Team Championship Match
The Undisputed ERA (c) vs. The War Raiders

NXT North American Championship Match
Ricochet (c) vs. Johnny Gargano

Should Velveteen Dream indeed make a surprise appearance in the Royal Rumble match, fans should not take the appearance as confirmation that Dream has been moved to the main roster, as names like Adam Cole and Tye Dillinger previously made Rumble match appearances then returned to NXT.
