Tuesday night’s loss to the Calgary Flames served as the homecoming for both Brian Elliott and Troy Brouwer. Returning to the city for the first time since they both departed over the summer – Elliott through trade, Brouwer through free agency – the club decided to create a video thanking them for their time with the Blues.
Thanks for everything, @KidElls1 & @TroyBrouwer36. #stlblues pic.twitter.com/JYk3vPCpQH

While the video was an extremely nice gesture, it is kind of strange the team did so much for Brouwer when he spent just one season with the Blues. Granted, he scored one of the organization’s biggest playoff goals, but he certainly isn’t on the same level as Elliott who was with the Blues for five seasons.
Realistically, the Blues were in an awkward spot considering both returned on the same night. You can’t really mention Elliott without also thanking Brouwer.
