David Backes is a man of many talents. Evidently, scoring a goal without actually putting the puck in the back of the net is one of them. Backes was awarded a goal after he was hauled down from behind as he streaked towards Winnipeg's empty net. By rule, the player is awarded a goal when he is denied a scoring chance when the net is empty.
It's not often you see a player score a goal without actually scoring a goal.
