Shane Carden and the ECU Pirates went into Blacksburg and took care of business against Virginia Tech, beating the Hokies 28-21 after a last-minute touchdown drive that took the lead with just :16 remaining in the game.
It was a colossal win for ECU, which came off a hard-fought loss to South Carolina in Columbia the week prior, and is now seemingly in great position to contend for the American Athletic Conference with Cincinnati, Memphis, and UCF.
However, it wasn’t all pretty—the Pirates had to fight through a lot of adversity to get this dubya, including this play that will surely give them a spot on ESPN’s Not Top 10 highlights at some point in the next 24 hours.
I’m sure ECU will take the notoriety however it can though, after taking out the Hokies—who were ranked No. 17 in the country after upsetting Ohio State on the road last Saturday—and improving to 2-1 on the season.
