If Friday night’s game is any indication of things to come for the UConn Huskies men’s basketball team, it could be a very fruitful season.

Fifth-year senior transfers Sterling Gibbs and Shonn Miller combined for 37 points to lead the UConn men’s basketball team to an 100-56 win over the Maine Black Bears in front of a sell-out crowd at Gampel Pavilion on Friday night.

It was the first game for both the UConn Huskies (1-0) and Maine Black Bears (0-1).

Gibbs had 20 points while Miller had a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds. Amida Brimah narrowly missed a double-double with 18 points and nine blocked shots while pulling down seven rebounds. Rodney Purvis added 10 points with Daniel Hamilton chipping in with nine points, nine rebounds and nine assists.

Till Gloger paced the Black Bears with 17 points and six rebounds. Issac Vann added 10 points to the cause.
