Two games into the season, the UConn Huskies men’s basketball team is showing the country they are for real this year.
Playing against primarily a zone defense from the New Hampshire Wildcats, the UConn men’s basketball team used 13 three-pointers to help themselves to an 85-66 win at Gampel Pavillon on Tuesday night.
The UConn men’s basketball team improves to 2-0 while UNH drops to 1-1.
Sterling Gibbs led the way for the UConn with 21 points including five three-pointers. He also had two old-fashioned three-point plays. Rodney Purvis added five three-pointers as well to to finish with 20 points on the night.
Daniel Hamilton had a double-double for the UConn men’s basketball team with 13 points and 11 rebounds. He also had six assists.
Tanner Reissner led the Wildcats with 20 points. Pat McNamara came off the bench to add 14 points while Jaleen Smith had a team-high six rebounds to go along with nine points.
The UConn men’s basketball team is back in action on Saturday afternoon when they’ll host the Furman Paladins at 12 p.m. at Gampel.
