This video shows the transition of head coaches the Bucs have had in their history since the very first one, Ring of Honor inductee John McKay’s notice was given towards the tail end of the 1984 season. Sadly McKay’s last game is not available, one of twenty games still not found to put in the Bucstop.com video Library now over 600 DVDs strong.

In making the movie, I tried to show the first and last time a Bucs head coach was seen on the field in a broadcast.
This movie has some faults, for example, when a particular game is not available. Richard Williamson, the Bucs interim coach in 1990 who became Head Coach in 1991 coached his last game home vs the Indianapolis Colts. Obviously, that game was NOT a sellout, and thus was not on local TV and was on NBC, which is hard to come by. So far its nowhere to be found, but I have no doubt it will turn up one day. Instead the second to last game, at Chicago, is used as Williamson’s last game. As for finding a copy of the Colts game one day, I quote Williamson…”We’re gonna work on that”!
Also, there are no Preseason games from 1992 in the library yet, so Wyche’s first game is his first regular season game vs the Cardinals. I was at that game, and a funny thing happened: The ref in that game awarded a penalty and said ” Penalty on CINCINNATI”.
Of course every clip here has something in common: all the coaches who got fired lost thier last game, except one! Ray Perkins actually BEAT Atlanta, then got fired!
For the results of regular season match ups,
Leeman Bennet lost his first and last regular season game; first, 28-38 to Chicago Bears, then last 17-21 to the Cardinals of St. Louis.
Ray Perkins won his opening regular season game shown here home vs Atlanta 48-10, then Beat same Falcons team 23-17.
Very next game Richard williamson won his first game as interim coach 26-13 and went 1-2 as Bucs coach. That was enough for Hugh Culverhouse.
A year later he won his last game 17-3 over the Colts of Indianapolis. This game shown was a 0-27 loss to Bears. He finished 3-13.
Tony lost his first game 34-3 to Green Bay Packers, and last game, 9-31 to Philadelphia.
Jon Gruden lost his first game in OT 20-26 to Saints here in Tampa, and lost his last game 24-31 to Raiders.
Raheem Morris lost his first and last game too, 21-34 to Dallas, and finally 45-24 to Atlanta Falcons.
