You’ll have to excuse UConn Huskies women’s basketball guard Kia Nurse if she can’t make plans with anyone next summer. She’ll be just a little bit busy playing in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio.
Nurse was a huge reason why Canada beat UConn Huskies teammates Breanna Stewart, Moriah Jefferson and the USA Basketball team in the Pan Am Games finals. She was an even bigger reason why Canada earned a berth in the Olympics.
The UConn Huskies sophomore sensation had 20 points in the finals of the FIBA Americas Tournament to lead Canada over Cuba to clinch the berth. And oh by the way, she was named MVP of the tournament as well.
Watch and/or listen below as Nurse talks about what it means to her leading her country to an Olympic berth.
