We’re now in the final stages of doing the NFL TV opens. After today, I’ll move to NBA and MLB TV opens and finding those should be fun. But here are some opens done by Fox Sports. As you may know, Fox is a relative newcomer to broadcasting the NFL. Fox Sports broke into the NFL game by winning the rights to the NFC from CBS in 1994 and has not looked back since. At first, Fox only had the rights to the NFL, but then acquired rights to the NHL in 1995, followed by Major League Baseball in 1996 and NASCAR in 2001.
But Fox brought a new attitude to the NFL and a great opening theme as witnessed from this open in 1997 for the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants. Note the announcing team of Dick Stockton and current Detroit Lions GM Matt Millen who came over from CBS.
Here’s one from 2006 involving those now-famous Fox robots.
Sometimes, Fox Sports allows its NFL Sunday pre-game show to have a lone sponsor or do a promotion. This involves the movie Eragon and the robot gets vaporized.
Here’s an intro for the Giants-Eagles NFC Wild Card playoff game from 2007. For some reason, the video does not start until 45 seconds in. Nice step video.
That’s it for now.
