The Minnesota Vikings won against a lifeless Kansas City Chiefs 16-10 but it wasn’t pretty and it almost didn’t happen.

You wouldn’t know by watching the first three quarters of the game but Minnesota controlled the ball.

The Vikings scored first with a field goal by Blair Walsh, who would go onto to score in the first, third and fourth quarters, then the Vikings would find the end zone with a touchdown from Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to Kyle Rudolph.

But a field goal in the fourth quarter by kicker Cairo Santos from 42 yards away got the Chiefs on the board and that was soon followed up by a touchdown from Quarterback Alex Smith to Albert Wilson.

And in the blink of an eye the Vikings hefty lead was cut to 10-13 in the fourth quarter.

But the Vikings caught a very lucky break when Brain Robison was able to recover a fumble made by Chiefs running back Charcandrick West. The ball ultimately went back to the Chiefs, but with roughly 3:00 minutes left in the game the Vikings defense was able to put enough pressure on QB Alex Smith and forced four straight incompletions to close out this heart beating of a game.

The surprise of the game for Minnesota came with a lackluster game for Adrian Peterson. Peterson rushed for just 16 yards on 17 first half carries and finished with 60 yards on 26 carries. But he lost 3 yards on one catch and fumbled once, but the Vikings were able to recover it.

But the player who is exciting the fan base is Rookie receiver Stefon Diggs. He finished with 129 receiving yards and provided big play after big play. Many fans are wondering why the Vikings haven’t started him sooner, but are happy that he is getting his chance.

While this game did go down to the wire, the Vikings came out with a win and are looking forward to their next game at Detroit.

This quote from Head Coach Mike Zimmer sums up our feelings very well, “Everybody in this league is good, so there are no soft spots in any schedules. I told our team all week long this was going to be a nail-biter and as you can tell from my nails, [it was].
