Vikings vs. Bills: Mushroom Stamp Winner

I’m blaming Chad Greenway for the loss to the Bills, but – as we mentioned yesterday – it literally could have been anyone and everyone on the team to take the blame this week.

BUT NO. We choose Chad, and for multiple reasons. Hey, we get it. People like Chad Greenway, even though he’s a f*cking disgusting Iowa Hawkeye. You should all be ashamed. But he’s a “Viking”, whatever that means to your a-typical inbred Vikings fan that mouth-slobbers over lunch pail player cliches, pretty much embodied to the Nth degree by Chad Greenway. That alone doesn’t mean he deserves this week’s poop-stamp, nor do his stats necessarily indicate he played ALL that poorly. He led the team in tackles (15 total, 7 solo), had a pass defended, and was even credited with a fumble caused, I believe. That’s a solid day!

But god dammit Greenway, that 4th and 20.

That was Chad Greenway’s guy. Scott Chandler. A tight end. Greenway was suppose to be covering him in the middle of the field. And he did. Kind of. I mean, he technically ran with the guy, but I have never seen a linebacker turn their head around like a robot so stiffly because they were so out of position to make a play on the ball in the first place like Chad did. Stop that one play, and the game was over. Vikings win, errbody go home with tight pants.

The bigger issue here though is that Chad just may not be a Viking for that much longer. I can’t believe that a white guy who tackles a lot because he’s too slow to break a pass up is the kind of linebacker that Mike Zimmer wants anchoring his defense. Chad is nice to have around as a veteran, as a guy who knows stuff about football, but … Maybe he wants to be a coach instead? I mean, look at the differences between him and Anthony Barr. Where do YOU think this defense is going under Zimmer in the future? More Greenway style or more Barr style? It’s a pretty obvious answer.
