As I’ve relished in the Vikings first division title in 5 years, I’ve spent plenty of my holiday break discussing my thoughts on the other first event in 5+ years, a Vikings playoff game. Just as the confetti started to fall, the Vikings were handed their prize for dethroning the Packers, a golden ticket to a home-field match-up versus the underrated Seahawks. Yes, the same team that has competed in the Super Bowl for the past two years. If that fact wasn’t overwhelming enough, this team is about to get Marshawn Lynch back and is coming on at the right time – after obliterating the Cardinals last week (ironically who the Vikings would face if they get past the Seahawks).
I knew in winning the division, I would have to settle in to the short-span happiness that we dethroned one set of Champions and that my team finally made the playoffs once again. Call me a negative Nancy, but I have set myself up with a very realistic mindset in the Vikings return to the playoffs. And, in gathering some facts to back up my claim, I’ve set up a plethora of statistics that prove that my doubts are worthy. But, as they say, they play the game for a reason. None-the-less, here is how the Vikings may fare this Sunday – on paper.
