The border battle and the battle for first place rage’s on as the Minnesota Vikings (7-2) take on the Green Bay Packers (6-3) this Sunday at TCF Back Stadium. Rivalry week has always been a love/hate week for us here in Minnesota. We love that the Vikings are taking on the Pack, but we hate that since 2010, the Packers have won nine times. But thanks to a cosmic force or the Packers being without Jordy Nelson and not having a solid wide revivers group, they have fallen to 6-3.

Minnesota has been on a roll. The Vikings are 7-2 and have won 5 consecutive games; a first since 2009.

They are perfect at home this season and are coming off their 3rd win in a row on the road. The defense is still on top of their game as well. Harrison Smith leads the 8th-ranked passing defense in the NFL only allowing 228 passing yards per game. In the last 2 games, Linval Joseph has a combined 18 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble, and Everson Griffen leads the team with 5.5 sacks and that puts him at 7th most in the NFC. And the Vikings are the only team in the NFL to hold their opponents to 23 or fewer points in every game this season. And they have allowed the 2nd-fewest points per game 17.1 in the NFL.

And the offense is picking up as well. While much has been debated this week about Teddy Bridgewater holding onto the ball too long, he has 912 passing yards, 5 TDs, 1 INT and a 95.6 passer rating in his last 4 road games. Stefon Diggs is 10th in the NFL in receiving yards with 507 on 30 catches in 6 games. He has also hauled in 12 receptions of 20 yards, the most in the NFL. And despite only being active for 6 games, has the 2nd-most receiving yards among all rookies with 507 yards, trailing only Amari Cooper from Oakland who has 732 playing in 9 games. And Adrian Peterson continues to have a great comeback season. Peterson has his 6th career 200 rushing yard game, he is 1st in the NFL with 961 rushing yards and has 5 touchdowns. He currently has 11,151 career rushing yards and is now behind O.J. Simpson who has 11,236 by 85 yards for 20th of all-time. As a team, the Vikings rank 1st in rushing yards per game with a 147.

As fancy and exciting as these numbers are, none of them will matter if we don’t beat Green Bay. The only number that will matter after Sunday is 8-3. So come on Vikings do what we know and you know you can do… beat Green Bay!
