The Minnesota Vikings (6-2) are looking to take their winning ways to California when the face the Oakland Raiders (4-4). The Vikings have won four in a row and that is a first since 2012. But the biggest story to come out of this game is the potential absence of starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater (concussion).
He was hit shoulder first as he slid to the ground by St. Louis Rams cornerback Lamarcus Joyner. Bridgewater is listed as questionable but was a full participant in Thursday and Friday’s practice. Head Coach Mike Zimmer said that he has no doubt that Teddy will play on Sunday.
But the team as a whole is an unstoppable machine as of late. The Vikings are now only team in the NFL to hold their opponents to 23 points or less in every game this season, are tied for the 2nd-fewest points allowed per game (17.5), the defense is 2nd in NFL on 3rd down conversion holding opponents to a 29.7% (30-of-101) and since week two they have ranked sixth in the NFL only allowing 94.7 rushing yards per game.
While all of the accolades are nice touch, the Vikings should not take the Raiders and the offense lightly. To avoid a loss they need to find a way to stop Carr. He has thrown for 2,094 yards with 19 touchdowns and four interceptions and has a passer rating of 104.3. The key to success for the Vikings is to keep the defense on fire.
They have created 30 no gain plays (15 rushes, 9 sacks, 6 receptions) for opposing offenses over the past three games. If they can keep that type of pressure on the O Line for the Raiders they can definitely pull of a win.
