Villanova Heads to Pittsburgh as East Region #1 Seed, Tickets only $56

The critics who kicked and screamed about the competition in the new “Big East” are all quiet after Villanova was awarded with No. 1 seed after their brilliant 2014-15 regular season.

The Wildcats went 32-2 overall, 16-2 in the conference and won the Big East tournament championship game by 17 over the Xavier Musketeers. The Big East conference received six bids from their 10-team league, with no teams having to play a play-in game. The highest seeded team from the conference is St. Johns who received a No. 10 seed.

Villanova’s first round game is against Lafayette, who entered the tournament by virtue of winning the Patriot League conference tournament. This is their first NCAA Tournament berth since 2000. Both the Leopards and the Wildcats have a fewer than five-hour car ride to get to the first round location in Pittsburgh, PA.

The CONSOL Energy Center is the host of the first two rounds of the East Region. According to TiqIQ.com, Villanova tickets have an average ticket price of $200.92 with a walk-in price of $56 for March 19th. This includes a second game that includes NC State vs. LSU. If you’re looking to attend either one or two games, consider Hipmunk.com your main source for travel arrangements. Since both Villanova and Lafayette are just about an hour apart, both schools can use Hipmunk to book hotels near the CONSOL Energy Center. Flights to and from Pittsburgh through Hipmunk prices vary by location, but there are many available roundtrip options for the first weekend of March Madness.

Villanova has one of the more even, spread out offenses in the country with their leading scorer only averaging 14 points per game. They have two other starters who average over 10 points per game and have three players that average over nine points per game.

The Wildcats were undefeated in their non-conference part of the schedule, with wins over teams like VCU, Michigan, Illinois, Temple and Syracuse. They rank in the top-25 in both scoring and assists per game nationally.

Villanova’s last Final Four was in 2009 under Jay Wright, who is 12-7 in the NCAA Tournament. Last year, the Wildcats lost to the eventual champion UConn Huskies in the Round of 32.
