For the 4th season in a row the Villanova Wildcats have won the Big 5. On Saturday night they defeated Penn 62-47 at the Palestra to finish 4-0 in the city series. The game was a lot closer then the score indicates.
They have now won 11 straight Big 5 games.
‘We don’t own the city,’ said Villanova head coach Jay Wright after the tough fought victory. ‘We just scrapped. That was a well-earned road victory in a difficult environment against a very hungry team. It was not pretty.’
Now that the Wildcats have secured the Big 5 for another season it is time for them to return their focus to the Big East and a possible #1 seed in the NCAA tournament. Villanova returns to action on Monday night when they travel to D.C. to face Georgetown in a Big East game at 9 pm.
Villanova currently sits at 17-1 on the season and is 4-1 in the Big East. The lone loss was to Seton Hal
