Viva Golazo! Working Out With Will Johnson And Kaylyn Kyle

“Golazo means ‘amazing goal’ in Spanish,” explains Jorge Perea, the Marketing Manager for Golazo Natural Sports Fuel.

Golazo Natural Sports Fuel, an organic drink company based in the Pacific Northwest, recently hosted its “Work Out with a Pro” sweepstakes at Buckman Field in Portland. A selected number of winners, along with their guests and members of the press, were treated to an exclusive work out session with Waterfront Fitness, featuring Portland Timbers captain Will Johnson and Canadian midfielder Kaylyn Kyle.

Both Kyle and Johnson are ambassadors of the brand. Perea is very happy to have them on board and is pleased with their conduct and professionalism. He praises both parties, saying that Kaylyn is a role model to the females and Will, being a leader for the Portland Timbers, endorses a healthy lifestyle, which makes both athletes a great fit for what Golazo is trying to accomplish.

“Golazo for us is an organic sports and energy drink. We wanted to come out with products that are healthier alternatives and that are locally made,” Perea said. “We wanted the soccer crowd to have a drink that they are proud of and enjoy.”

It was an afternoon of laughter, pain and excitement.  A total of  20 participants were in attendance (including Johnson and Kyle), who partook in a series of  warm-up games, a strenuous cross-fit circuit, topped off by photographs and autographs from the players. As a representative of Oregon Sports News, I was on set, and a part of the action.

“The work out was harder than I thought. I enjoyed the boxing the most and that was the fun part for me,” Johnson said. “It’s just nice to get out and mingle with people and have a little bit of a chat.”

Clearly we were treated to a top-notch workout, with Johnson, a professional athlete stating that it was somewhat arduous. Waterfront Fitness did a great job with the exercises, working participants into a sweat and re-hydrating naturally with Golazo.

Golazo Sports Fuel boasts three different products – Golazo Hydration, Golazo Energy and Golazo Sugar Free Energy. Each drink contains less ingredients than other leading brands of sports and energy drinks on the market today, which makes it healthier to consume. It is made from natural products such as coconut water, evaporated cane sugar, and contains 50 percent less sodium than other brands (nutritional facts for Golazo Hydration). On the other hand, Golazo Energy contains 50 percent less sugar than other name-brand products, along with its hydrating electrolytes and premium ingredients. Also, Golazo has a very good taste and does not leave a nasty lingering taste like certain sports drinks. As an athlete, I can recall certain moments when sports drinks would leave an aftertaste during work outs which required me to drink more water – how ironic?

Golazo Hydration is a natural fuel which replenishes athletes of any caliber or sport. Johnson explains that the only similarity that the Golazo energy drink has to the others on the market, is its use. Also, Golazo Energy is more natural, healthier, better tasting and can be used by the general public, not just athletes.

“I bring some in the locker room for sure, but you have to be a little bit careful just because we (Golazo) aren’t a league sponsor, so I don’t want to get in trouble with some of the big time contracts that the league has,” Johnson said. “A lot of my teammates have tried Golazo and they really like it. Hopefully, once Golazo gets to a bigger scale we can get into more professional soccer locker rooms around the country.”
