It’s hard to believe that 2010 has come and gone. It was a banner year for the combative sports scene here in North Texas. MMA continues to solidify itself as the fasting growing combative sport here in the DFW. Boxing, not to be outdone, had itself a year to remember with the emergence of a number of local stars and two record breaking fight promotions that took place at Cowboys Stadium featuring the one and only Manny Pacquiao.
As we turn our gaze toward 2011, it is time for us to take a look back at a number of deserving individuals who rose above the rest in 2010. North Texas Fisticuff wants to highlight those fighters and fight insiders who toil in the hardest sports in the world for our entertainment. In the next couple of days we will unveil a deserved winner in a number of categories of merit. We trust that you will agree with this year’s winners, but like we are fond of saying, if you don’t agree feel free to submit your nominations on our Facebook page.
One special twist to announce this year that we are sure you will enjoy regarding our coveted “Boxer of the Year” award. This year we had a deadlocked tie in terms of which fighters had a truly breakout year in 2010 between undefeated prospects Robert Marroquin and Charles Hatley. So in order to determine which fighter is the most deserving of our Boxer of the Year award, we are going to you the knowledgeable fight freaks, of North Texas.
