Sooooo … Someone correct me here. Apparently the Minnesota Vikings drafted a couple of receivers last year, one of them being Greg Childs from Arkansas? And apparently he has a history of injuries, which includes a freak accident where he tore both of his patellar tendons in his knees at the end of training camp last year? And you’re telling me he’s still alive? He didn’t actually die from this?
AND, on top of all of this nonsense, you apparently have video footage? … ROLL TAPE!

BAM! PROVED IT!
But no, really, that grainy flip phone video of a shadow blob moving around about 150 yards away is apparently Vikings receiver Greg Childs, who has been working his ASS off in order to repair both of his robot knees so he can play again in the near future. Now, does near future mean 2013 NFL season or does it mean “some day” like how people use the words in reference to Tim Tebow’s success in the NFL? These are questions I do not know the answer to, however I do know that seeing Greg Childs run around on a pair of working knees is pretty damn impressive.
We haven’t talked much about Childs around here because – frankly – I don’t expect much from him, both in the near future (say, 2013) or for his career as a Viking. That’s not to say he can’t get there, though. Maybe he does heal himself up and come out and impress. If that’s the case, that’d be awesome! I would love to have a receiver of his size available to the team. Childs, plus Jennings, Patterson, and Wright make a fun like group of receivers. Add in odd-ball Simpson and you can go five deep without having to play Stephen Burton, Devin Aromashodu, or Bobby Wade. It’s like a revelation.
But we’ll see what happens. All reports are that Greg has been working his ass off, sticking around Minnesota all off-season to train, and is starting to think about when he COULD come back, even if he won’t say when exactly it will be. But that’s exciting, for him and for Vikings fans, as we essentially get another rookie receiver this year.
And don’t forget … The more Greg Childs that is out there, the more opportunities you have to see Shirtless Greg Childs, the 2012 Shirtless Vikings Runner Up, if you cared to read our first seasonal award for such things a while ago. Totally worth it, for a Friday, by the way.
