The Phillies missed out on the playoffs this year, and today they started to do some roster cleaning.
It has been announced that the Astros have claimed LHP Raul Valdes. Valdes had a 7.46 ERA with the Phillies in 2013; that’s obviously not too good. Another announcement today was that the Indians have claimed RHP Tyler Cloyd. Cloyd had a 6.36 ERA in 13 games with the Phillies in 2013.

The Phillies didn’t lose too much today, both of these guys were mediocre at best. Both of these pitchers were on the 40-man roster, so now the Phillies have a little bit more room to work with.
