CSNNE’s Sean McAdam is reporting that Tim Wakefield will be the odd man out when Daisuke Matsuzaka returns to the Red Sox. Wakefield will go to the bullpen for the time being but is sure to return to the rotation at some point in the season when a starter goes on the DL.
Jacoby Ellsbury has hairline fractures to four ribs along his left side from the collision with Adrian Beltre. Looks like Darnell McDonald might stick around awhile.
