It is hard to find two players that represent the Red Sox more than David Ortiz and Tim Wakefield. Both players were part of the teams’ great decade, but now both are reaching the end of their careers. The fan reaction to what to do with them is not equal. Ortiz has had a very slow spring while Hermida is hitting the cover off of the ball , yet there is no call from fans to have Hermida replace Ortiz as DH. Wake has pitched very well this spring but most fans seem to want Buchholz to be in the rotation ahead of him. Red Sox fans are tough to figure out; they can be overly loyal to a player even if it cost the team and they can malign a player that is helping the team. I tend to fall into the overly loyal catagory and think that both Ortiz and Wake can do well this season.
