What to watch for:

The Warriors begin an early tough stretch of games against some of the Western Conference’s toughest teams when they head up to Portland to take on a young Trail Blazers squad who are hoping to build off of last year.

Klay Thompson is coming off a career night in which he had a career high 41 points. Look for him to try and let last nights performance carry over into this game. Stephen Curry also got it going with 31 points and 10 assists, but the stellar performance of his back court mate overshadowed Curry’s otherwise standout game.

Look for the match-up between Curry and Oakland Native Damian Lillard. This could become the game within the game as both of these young stars are on their way to becoming two of the leagues best point guards.

Curry, speaking on the future of the team, said, “We’ve gotta keep building. The tune up was great, but it doesn’t really matter unless you keep pushing. We’re playing some great teams coming up, so we’ve gotta be prepared to play a little bit better.

“As teams settle in you’ll start to see a higher level of execution and intensity, and we’ve got to be on that same trend.”

Steve Kerr talked about how to manage the plethora of players he has.

“There is other guys who are gonna play some nights and others not so much. That’s the hard thing for players to handle and these are the things that we’re focused on.” Kerr said after the game, “We’ve got a lot of depth, lot of options. If we’re gonna win, we have to accept that there is sacrifice that goes into it. That we have to compete every night. You may play you may not but you have to keep pushing.”
