WARRIORS PRACTICE FACILITY, OAKLAND, CA — The Golden State Warriors will be wearing their “The City” throwback uniforms tonight, along with the court painted to match the jerseys. Power forward Draymond Green and shooting guard Klay Thompson commented on them.
“I’m excited. That’s why I’m playing. I think that’s gonna be pretty dope,” said Green. “Since I’ve been here, I’ve wondered when we’re going to wear them.”
Thompson didn’t know the team was wearing them against the Toronto Raptors tonight.
“Oh, those are tonight?” Thompson said. “Just look at the greats who wore them up on the wall, like Alvin Attles, Rick Barry, Nate Thurmond. It’s an honor to wear them tonight.”
The Warriors tweeted out an illustration of Stephen Curry donning the jersey, but confirmed to us that tonight would be the first time Curry has actually worn them, stating that the last time the throwbacks were worn was in the 2006-07 season. Curry was drafted in 2009.
