AT&T CENTER, SAN ANTONIO, TX — After a thrilling victory Tuesday night with Stephen Curry hitting what’s starting become a trademark game-winning jumpshot, the Golden State Warriors, without the services of Andrew Bogut (pelvic contusion, did not travel with team), David Lee (hamstring), and Andre Iguodala (resting on a back-to-back with knee tendinitis) were no match for the full-strength San Antonio Spurs, who were in the midst of an 18-game winning streak.

FIRST QUARTER

The Warriors got out to a quick lead, 4-0, when Spurs coach Gregg Popovich called a timeout. That led to San Antonio getting on their own 14-6 run with 6:22 left in the first quarter. Klay Thompson had a few missed shots, but Jordan Crawford came off the bench and was displayed his usual aggression and no-conscious shot-taking, and the quarter ended 31- 18 in favor of the Spurs.

SECOND QUARTER

The second quarter started out much like the first one: missing open jumpshots and not capitalizing on the boards, in which the absences of Bogut, Lee, and Iguodala became glaring.

The Warriors started scoring more proficiently, bringing the lead to just 10 points with just about three minutes left in the first half. With five minutes left in the second quarter, the Warriors were able to get the large deficit to less than ten. The two teams began trading baskets and Golden State ended the first half with a 8-0 run.

At halftime, it was Spurs 57, Warriors 42. Crawford led the Warriors with 11 points.

THIRD QUARTER

The Warriors best scoring quarter came in the 3rd quarter, scoring 26 points. The lead was even cut to as low as 7 during the amazing run.

Unfortunately for the Warriors, the Spurs were just as amazing quarter as well, locking up on defense and scoring 30 points in the quarter.

Marreese Speights, who seemed to be everywhere on the offensive end, was the recipient of many Curry assists on jumpers and had 16 points. Meanwhile, Curry had 11 points and 10 assists, but would end the game at those totals as coach Mark Jackson threw in the white towel.

At the end of the third frame, it was an insurmountable lead at Spurs 87, Warriors 67. The Spurs’ Big Three were no match for the #SplashBrothers-plus-second-unit.

FOURTH QUARTER

As Curry sat, Thompson started the fourth quarter, but was pulled shortly thereafter. Meanwhile, Tony Parker and Tim Duncan sitting on the bench in the 4th. The final score was 111-90, the 4th time the Warriors lost to the Spurs this season.

The Warriors’ top performer of the night was Speights with 22 points and 9 rebounds. Parker led the Spurs with 18 points, 3 rebounds, and 8 assists.

Ultimately, the Spurs defense was too much for a depleted Warriors roster to handle. Crawford played 34 minutes and scored 16 points on 6-for-18 from the field.

The Warriors have six of their seven remaining games against teams that are under .500.
