Warriors React To Stephen Curry’s Bounce vs Toronto Raptors

ORACLE ARENA, OAKLAND, CA — The Golden State Warriors were gaining momentum and pulling away from the Toronto Raptors by 18 points late in the third quarter after David Lee got an alley-oop from Draymond Green.

Then Klay Thompson poked the ball away from Lou Williams, Andre Iguodala retrieved the loose ball, and it was off to the races:

Stephen Curry with the bounce (boi)!

“…and then lost my mind for a good 20 seconds,” Curry told reporters after the game in the locker room.

Draymond Green also lost his mind.

“I couldn’t even stop screaming when he did it,” Green told reporters in the locker room.

Two summers ago, Curry told Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports that he didn’t expect to do something like this during the regular season.

“I got my summer legs right now,” Curry said in August of 2013. “I’ve been lifting and trying to jump a little higher. Doubt you’ll see that during the season.”

About a year-and-a-half later, it’s finally happened.

“When I caught the ball, I had a little adrenaline kick and figured I could turn it my hand and get it over the rim,” Curry told reporters after the Raptors game. “It was my first dunk with ‘oomph’ in it. The rest of them (have been) just kind of transition, I get my feet set and show I have some form of hops, but that was pretty fun.”

“He doesn’t often dunk, but you can see when Steph has his legs,” said Warriors head coach Steve Kerr. “He’s been pretty bouncy in practice the last few days. He’s in a good groove right now.”

Warriors power forward Marreese Speights concurred, “He’s been dunking in practice, but he finally got one. He said he felt good.”

“It was a challenge at the rim,” Kerr added. “That just brought the house down.”

“Crazy,” said Speights. “That should be Number One, right? (In SportsCenter’s) Top Ten?”

But did it count as a dunk over Kyle Lowry, the Raptor in pursuit?

“Yeah,” said Green after the game, “Lowry tried to block it, so yeah.”
