It appears that DeMarcus Cousins doesn’t only want to be the best big man in the NBA. He also looks like he’s aiming to be the next big thing in the world of R&B.
The Kings starting center took to social media yesterday to promote his first full-length music album titled “Misunderstood” and it’s lead single “Emotional”. There’s a saying that art imitates life and that may be the case with Cousins and his music, judging by the titles of his album and lead single. It’s also worth noting that he’s releasing the album under the moniker, Boogie Smooth. Not a bad stage name, eh?
The track features Chicago-based Chance the Rapper, who has yet to put out an album of his own but heated up the mixtape scene with his release of “Acid Rap” last year.
Cousins is no stranger to the music world. One of his closest friends and supporters is rapper Drake, who gave Cousins a shoutout during his “Would You Like A Tour?” stop in Sacramento last November.
Here’s the description of the album from Cousins’ official YouTube Page:
Boogie Smooth aka Demarcus Cousins teams up with Mally Mall Music who has produced hit records for the likes of Justin Bieber, Drake, and Ty Dolla $ign. Features on the album include Chance The Rapper, Rick Ross, Chase N. Cashe, Mally Mall and more.
Trey Songz, Chris Brown, Usher, Drake and Justin Bieber – you’ve got some new competition in town and he goes by the name of Boogie Smooth. Hear a snippet of Cousins’ new music in the video below.

Sorry world, but it looks like Boogie Smooth is not coming to a playlist near you. Apparently, Cousins is not coming out with an R&B album and that this is all just an early April Fools prank. Props to DMC for blowing the world up with a pretty hilarious practical joke.
In what might have been an early April Fool's prank, Kings say that DeMarcus Cousins is not putting out a R&B album called, "Boogie Smooth."
