Punters are people too, and they can hit, which is exactly what Matt Bosher of the Falcons showed during Sunday’s game against the Panthers, when he absolutely destroyed Panthers return man Kenjon Barner.
Barner was returning a kickoff — as Bosher was handling both punting and kicking duties, due to Matt Bryant’s injury — when he burst through to the second level of the Falcons’ coverage team. He’s probably wishing he didn’t, judging by what happened afterward. Bosher played a perfect angle as Barner approached, and he literally picked up the Panthers return man and slammed him to the ground.
Not only that, he let him know about it afterward, by standing over Barner.
