Isaiah Thomas is used to the challenge.
In year one, it was Jimmer Fredette. Last year, it was Aaron Brooks. This year, it’s Greivis Vasquez. As an undersized point guard, the 24-year-old veteran is constantly having to prove his NBA worth.
Thomas, who is entering his third year in the league, looks forward to the competition that Vasquez is bringing to Sacramento. Based on experience playing against Vasquez in the past, Thomas thinks the battle between him and his new teammate will only make him better.
“He has a heart of a champion,” Thomas said of Vasquez to Cowbell Kingdom at his second annual youth basketball camp in Rocklin last week. “Just even playing against him, he doesn’t back down and he’s a great basketball player. So I can’t wait to get things going with the both of us because at the at end of the day, we’re gonna make each other better. We’re gonna be competing for a spot, but at the same time we’re gonna do whatever’s best for the team and whatever’s gonna get us more wins in the win column.”
