Following a loss to Maryland, Louisville women’s basketball coach Jeff Walz decided to talk about the problem with sports and society and what is being taught to our children. Namely, Walz spoke about the fact that every player received participation trophies and, because of that, we are failing our children. He is correct. We are failing, as a society, to teach our children about resiliency and this failure has a snowball affect to the point of young adults acting like they deserve everything. It wasn’t eloquent but Walz got his point across and it was a very important point.
