The United States Conference of Mayors is currently holding its 81st Winter Meeting in Washington DC. Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson is a member and second vice president of the “non-partisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more”. As he and his staff have ramped up efforts to organize a local ownership group to purchase the Sacramento Kings, he cancelled his trip to meet with other esteemed mayors across the country and Vice President Joe Biden.
Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, president of the USCM, made sure to let everyone know why Johnson was not in attendance at this year’s Winter Meeting.
