I have to give NBC credit for finding a new way for us to watch the thrilling men’s 4 x 100 meter relay at the Water Cube on Sunday.
The entire race can be from underwater as each member of the US and French relay teams jump into the water. It’s really cool and you can see it by clicking on this link. This was probably Michael Phelps’ most difficult race in this Olympics on his route to becoming the most decorated gold medalist in history.
I wish I could embed the race and maybe there will be a way eventually, but as one person from NBC’s internet unit was telling me, the network wants to protect its copyright. Maybe in the next Olympics, I’ll be able to embed video, but the fact that we can at least see the race in this manner, I’ll definitely take this rather than being prevented to see this angle at all.
UPDATE – Thanks to Awful Announcing for linking to this entry. I hope you enjoy the video.
