The Sacramento Kings and new head coach Michael Malone have been fined by the NBA for tampering. According to Sam Amick and Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today Sports, the Kings, Rockets and Hawks were all reprimanded by the league for comments regarding some of this summer’s top free-agents-to-be.
Following his introduction as new head coach of the Kings last week, Malone took additional questions from a small group of reporters. Malone was asked specifically about his relationship with current Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul and whether it could help the Kings come free agency.
“Obviously, Chris would look pretty good in a Sacramento Kings uniform without a doubt,” Malone said when asked if he could use his clout with Paul to convince the superstar to consider the Kings next month. ”But he’s a great friend, somebody I had a great relationship with in New Orleans. We stay in touch.”
The question was asked by Cowbell Kingdom’s Jonathan Santiago. You can hear and watch Malone’s remarks about Paul in their entirety in the video below.
