After a tumultuous season, and an even more tumultuous week, the Philadelphia Eagles ended their 2015 season with a 35-30 win over the New York Giants.
Under interim head coach Pat Shurmur, Sam Bradford and the Eagles offense came out showing some shades of a different feel. One of the biggest differences came as Bradford lined up under-center to get running back DeMarco Murray straight up the field for a 54-yard touchdown run. The run would be Murray’s longest of the season.
Bradford and the offense continued to show impressive play as a 60-yard catch-and-run by tight end Zach Ertz set up a six-yard touchdown run by running back Darren Sproles.
The Giants defense came alive later in the first half as Jason Pierre-Paul deflected a Bradford pass attempt. leading to an interception by Jonathan Casillas. The Giants would take advantage of the turnover with a nine-yard touchdown run by Will Tye.
The Eagles would respond with two huge plays from Bradford to Ertz, one a conversion on 3rd and 10, and the other a 19-yard reception to put the Eagles in the redzone. Bradford would finish off the drive with a four-yard touchdown pass to receiver Jordan Matthews. The drive would be sixteen plays and last over six minutes, both season highs.
The Giants put up another score late in the half as running back Rashad Jennings plowed through the Eagles defense on multiple plays, and capped off the drive with a one-yard touchdown run.
Eli Manning and the Giants would add yet another score, capitalizing off a Murray fumble and turnover with a 45-yard touchdown pass to Rueben Randle.
The Eagles tied it up as the defense made a huge redzone play. Connor Barwin hit Manning as he threw, leading to an interception by safety Walt Thurmond who took it 83 yards to the house.
It would be Bradford to Matthews for the Eagles final touchdown this season as the duo hooked up for a 4th quarter score. Despite a late Giants field goal, the Eagles would hang on and end their season with a win.
As the 2015 season comes to an end, there are a world of questions and concerns from head coach, to free agency, to the draft will all have to be answered sooner than later.
