Stuff that The BBC is thinking about right now;
Ohio State
- Since he became head coach, Jim Tressel’s all-time record against teams ranked #1….go ahead and take a quick guess. We’ll tell you the answer in a few seconds.
- Looking deeper at the game, our defense is NASTY. We held the Bobcats to 35% in the air. A few nice Bobcat broken runs was the difference between this game and a MUCH bigger win.
- Where the hell is Brian Robiskie? He’s got 49 yards for the whole season. Wake up, Robo.
- Where the hell is Brian Hartline? He’s got only 4 catches on the year and dropped a couple of easy ones today.
- Immediately following today’s win over Ohio, the defense got better. Donald Washington and Jamario O’Neal return from their 2-game suspensions now.*
- Todd Boeckman botched a snap in the end zone, giving Ohio a 14-6 lead. The Buckeyes woke up after that – the time of possession the rest of the day was Ohio State 17:37, Ohio 6:23.
- Tressel’s OSU career record against top-ranked teams is 1-0. He beat #1 Miami 31-24 in 2OT.
The rest of college football
- I don’t care how much they try to pump up the ego during pre-game shows, Notre Dame sucks.
- Penn State didn’t miss a beat after losing a few players this week. Are they that good or is Oregon State that bad? I say both.
- Michigan looked good for the first 8 minutes of the game, and looked pretty bad the rest of the way. If they play like that against the rest of their schedule, they’ll have a losing season.
- You’ve heard how the blown extra point can come back to haunt you later? Ask Washington about that. They lost on a blocked PAT with two seconds left.
That’s all. More later.
* – It’s worth noting that they got two games for violating team policy, and Penn State’s Andrew Quarless, who threw a party at his apartment complete with illegal substances, got suspended for about an hour and a half.
