The Wisconsin Badgers continued to roll on Wednesday night, defeated the Penn State Nittany Lions on the road 55-47. Sam Dekker scored 22 points and Frank Kaminsky pitched in with 16 for the Badgers to bump their record to 24-2 overall with a 12-1 conference record.
The Badgers had a problem stopping Penn State’s D.J. Newbill who scored 29 but held the rest of his teammates in check.
The Badgers have their sights on a Big 10 regular season championship with five games remaining before the Big 10 tournament tips off. The Badgers play Minnesota twice, are on the road at Maryland and Ohio State, with a home game against Michigan State to round out the final five.
With a three game lead with five games to go, Wisconsin has all but assured themselves the regular season championship, but the heads up game against Maryland could make things interesting if the Badgers get tripped up on February 24th.
But for this week, Wisconsin plays one of its last two home games on Saturday against the Minnesota Golden Gophers at 12 p.m. at the Kohl Center. The Gophers are on a two game skid, losing on the road to Indiana by 19 then dropping a game at home to Northwestern. Minnesota will have to snap out of whatever funk they’re in to steal a win at the Kohl Center to the No. 5 ranked team in the country.
