Got a slumping division leader? We’ve got just the cure for you: a weekend series with the lowly Kansas City Royals!!!!
I’ll take a series sweep to go, please.
Beating up on the Royals might just be what this wavering Angel team needs to get back on track before they run the gauntlet of the AL West one last time to try and close out the season. Thus far this year, KC has treated the Angels well by dropping all six of their games versus the Angels. They’ve even been nice enough to scratch Gil Meche from Friday’s start in favor of Robinson Tejada, just to make things even easier. Thanks, Kansas City. We’ll send you a postcard from the post-season when we get there. You have no idea how much we appreciate your help.

THREE Questions:
- Can the quality starting pitching of the Angels keep it up? The Royals are a miserable offensive club, so I see no reason why they can’t.
- Will the Angel bats wake up again? Once again, KC is perfect for this because they have given up the second-most runs in the league. Then again, they will have to face Zack Greinke this Saturday.
- Will Scioscia’s new line-up work? He has Izturis batting second tonight with everyone else bumped down in the order. Once again Sosh relies on his old strategy of “in case of emergency, use more Maicer.” I don’t know how I feel about this.
TWO Predictions:
- Not only do the Angels take all three weekend games (and the Monday game), but the Halos win all four games by a 4+ runs.
- Torii Hunter tries to make a late push for some MVP consideration and hits three homers and drives in seven runs in this four-game set while making at least one highlight reel catch.
ONE Wish:
- I wish the Angels had alternate unis as cool as the baby blue ones the Royals have. The all red jerseys are pretty sweet, but they don’t hold a candle to the Royals baby blues.
ZERO Tolerance for… any losses whatsoever. This is the last real cupcake on the Angel schedule and they must take full advantage, especially with the Rangers breathing down their neck.
